Our Approach to Care

At NewYork-Presbyterian’s Congenital Heart Center, we believe that there is a solution for each child, and we rely on established expertise as well as innovative thinking to deliver unparalleled care for every patient. We take a fully integrated approach to the treatment of complex heart conditions in people at every stage, from fetal life through infancy, childhood, adolescence, to adulthood.

High-Risk Pregnancy Care

Each member of our high-risk obstetrical team is board-certified or board-eligible in Maternal-Fetal Medicine and High-Risk OB/GYN and has extensive expertise and experience in caring for pregnant mothers who are at risk for obstetric complications. For mothers diagnosed with a high-risk pregnancy due to fetal congenital heart disease, our Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialists collaborate with our fetal cardiologists, interventional cardiologists, and cardiovascular surgeons, to provide the best care available – both while the infant is in the womb and upon delivery. This care plan includes fetal diagnostic methods and therapies, neonatal and pediatric cardiac intensive care, mechanical cardiopulmonary support, pulmonary hypertension management, electrophysiology studies, noninvasive imaging, and pediatric cardiac anesthesia. Continuity of care is maintained with our team throughout pregnancy and postnatal care.
