NewYork-Presbyterian Queens is the major teaching site for the OB/GYN and Pediatric residents of NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, and residents from other facilities also take advantage of the wealth of clinical material at NewYork-Presbyterian Queens. Their presence contributes to a healthy exchange of ideas between our hospital and other healthcare institutions. Participating institutions include the Hospital for Special Surgery and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
In addition, NewYork-Presbyterian Queens participates in the education and training of the Weill Medical College of Cornell University students.
NewYork-Presbyterian Queens faculty and department chairs have academic appointments at the Weill Medical College of Cornell University.

The Office of Graduate Medical Information
The Office of Graduate Medical Education coordinates all institutional medical education activities. The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), the accrediting body for all graduate medical education programs, mandates institutional responsibility and required documentation for all GME programs. The ACGME reviews all institutions with two or more residency programs through the institutional review document and periodic site visits (approximately every 3 years).
There must be a Designated Institutional Official (DIO) who has the authority and responsibility for the oversight and administration of the Sponsoring Institution’s ACGME accredited programs and who is responsible for assuring compliance with ACGME institutional requirements.
Joval Wilson, MPA is the Administrative Director for Graduate Medical Education at NewYork-Presbyterian Queens. He brings a wealth of GME experience from his previous positions as a Residency Program Assistant at NYP Columbia and a General Surgery Residency Program Coordinator at Weill Cornell Medicine. He has shown a commitment to improving the operations of the GME office and has a keen interest in the well-being of House staff and Coordinators.
Functions of the Office
Institutions must have a centralized office responsible for ensuring compliance with all institutional requirements established by the ACGME to support these residency programs. The institution is responsible for 3 core residency training programs, 6 fellowship training programs, a CPME and 2 ADA residency training programs.
The Office of Graduate Medical Education relies on its relationship with all departments within the institution. It exists in part to meet the ACGME requirements for centralization and oversight and as an institutional graduate medical education resource. The Office also provides assistance and counseling to all members of the graduate staff whenever needed. Its major functions include accreditation:
